Cost?- $120/hr in person and $100/hr online

How can I play you?- If tutoring is in person, I want to get paid by cash or check. If it is online, Zelle is preferred with PayPal and Venmo as backups.

What is your usual travel range? Generally, Redmond, Woodinville, Kirkland and Bellevue. For travel distance, I am centered at the Costco in Redmond.

Why do you tutor if you have a full time job as a software engineer? I sometimes wonder why am I a full time software engineer when I tutor? Oh... health insurance! And consistency of pay. I really enjoy tutoring.

What if I just need a quick question answered? If you are a current student, I will answer any quick question you have through e-mail or text. I prefer e-mail because I am older now and can't beep-boop-bop math answers as easily through text as I can through e-mail.

What if I just need you for an upcoming test? Can we do that? Yep! If you need to just focus and do a cram session, I can help with that as well. If you want one time help, please say so when contacting me as I may be able to accommodate.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
Glad you asked! Appointments can be canceled 24 or more hours in advance without charge. If canceled less than 24 hours in advance, I may choose to charge half to all of the hourly fee. This is at my discretion- I try to be reasonable. If an appointment is missed without notification, I'll likely charge the full appointment price and talk smack to my wife.

Do you do trial sessions?
No, I don't do trial sessions currently. I can do 1/2 hr online sessions.

What differentiates you from other math tutors?
I think that my sense of humor differentiates me from other math tutors. I am perfectly capable of being serious for long periods of time and working hard... however, I want learning and teaching to be fun. Oh yeah! Patience! I am very very patient.

What is your tutoring philosophy?
My degree is in applied math, so my goal is to attempt to teach math in a way that relates to real world problems. Solving equations is the boring part of math that has to be done to get to the exciting part of explaining how the world fits together.
I see a lot more anxiety in students now than I did ten years ago. Especially test anxiety. The best ways to relieve this anxiety is to get the student so they are confident in their abilities and to help them relax a little so that they can perform their best.

Do you do group sessions?
I can. Students/parents will need to organize it as previously attempts on my part have failed miserably. Two students are the same price as one. Each additional student raises the price by $10/hr. The upper bound is $200/hr. So if you can get an audatorium with 400 students, each would pay but $.50/hr! INSANITY!
What are the pros and cons of online vs. in person?
In person, I can see facial reactions and body language to better determine understanding. Many students will say they understand when they don't. I am much more engaging in person.
Online, I take notes that I send after the session. There is at least a 50% chance that my Quarantine Cat Captain Clawdia Furface will in the shed with me. He can be shown on demand if he is. He is extremely cute. Mostly the notetaking is the advantage.
